Organized by the Uganda Baseball and Softball Association, the championship will feature four nations including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and South Sudan.

Uganda Baseball and Softball Association President John Bosco Ssempa believes that the championship will present a crucial opportunity for the national team to secure a place in the next stage of international competition.

“The competition will serve as a qualifying tournament for the upcoming Baseball5 World Cup. The teams will be residing at Hamz Nakivubo stadium and we must commend the management of the stadium for having a beautiful stadium but also fantastic accommodation”.

The Uganda Baseball5 National Team of twenty players concluded its non-residential training camp at St. Peter’s Secondary School on Wednesday.

Baseball5, a fast-paced urban version of baseball played without bats and gloves, has grown rapidly across Africa in recent years due to its accessibility and appeal to young athletes.

The sport has gained recognition from the World Baseball Softball Confederation and continues to attract new participants throughout the continent.
