The prime minister of Uganda Robinah Nabbanja has pledged Shs20m to Kitara FC to help the side prepare for the upcoming CAF Confederations Cup engagements.

Nabbanja made the pledge on Friday June 12th, 2026 in Hoima while launching the upgrade of Buseruka health center III to health centre IV, and construction of emergency accident ward at Hoima regional hospital as well as the upgrade of Masindi hospital to align with the Confederation of African football (CAF) standards.
“I have been given a jersey. I am proud, and on behalf of the Office of the Prime minister, I will be sending you Shs20m to support you,” she noted before she launched the construction of an emergency accident ward at Hoima regional referral hospital and proceeding to Masindi where she also launched the upgrade of Masindi hospital to align with CAF standards.
Kitara will represent the country in the Continental tournament after winning the 2025/26 Stanbic Uganda Cup title after beating SC villa 1-0 in the final played at the FUF technical center in Njeru. It was the second Uganda Cup title for the Royals with the first coming in 2024.

Kitara asked the government to grant them permission to use the newly constructed Hoima City stadium – which was granted through Peter Ogwang, the state minister for sports.
“This is the oldest cup in Ugandan football. The children of Kabalega won the competition. I have also committed on behalf of the government that we shall give them the facility come September to host an international game here in Hoima city. So, we shall give you Hoima City stadium,” confirmed Ogwang to the elation of the crowd.

Kitara FC president Deo Kasozi thanked the government and the president for granting them the stadium.
“It is a great milestone for us as Kitara football club and it is going to work as a rehearsal for the Africa cup of nations. I want to call upon all the locals in the region to prepare very well because we are going to have several teams to play with Kitara,” noted Kasozi, who revealed that Kitara FC targets the group stage in the competition.
“We want to thank the prime minister for the offer of Shs20m. It can help us buy visas for the players as we are travelling and the fans that will be able to travel with us,” added Kasozi.
Kitara hosted their games from Egypt last time out due to lack of a CAF certified stadium in Uganda after Namboole had been closed for renovation and St Mary’s stadium denied to the Hoima side.
