Katikkiro hails Kabuura for promoting Ugandan culture globally

Uganda’s sports show host Andrew Kabuura has continued to gain international acclaim after hosting the Uefa Champions league coverage on SuperSport.

Kabuura, who is also having a name in commentary, is the head of sports broadcast at Next Media, directly heading the group’s sports channel -NBS Sport.

His appearance on the global sports platform sparked excitement across Uganda, with many taking to X to celebrate what they described as a proud national moment.

Not only for excellent show hosting skills, Kabuura has been praised for taking the Ugandan culture to the world by throwing a few local languages works in Lukiga and Luganda.

On Tuesday while hosting Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid semi-final return leg, Kabuura threw in some Luganda phrase “Bannange musule bulungi. Omupiira mugulabye, kansuubire mugwagadde nnyo” as he signed out.

This has brought about excitement among Ugandans.

Buganda Kingdom, through the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, hailed Kabuura for promoting Uganda’s culture.

“I thank our brother Andrew Kabuura so much for bringing us respect as Ugandans as he is one of the champions league broadcast team. Andrew Kabuura throws in some Luganda words which make us enjoy the broadcast,” Katikkiro posted in Luganda on his official X-handle with CPM sign-off.  

Katikkiro also hailed the kingdom university Muteesa 1 Royal University for winning their first Pepsi University football league trophy in only their second season of participation. Muteesa beat YMCA 1-0 in the 2026 final played at the Hamz stadium, Nakivubo on Saturday 2nd, May, 2026.

He also congratulated Arsenal fans for their team’s qualification to the champions league final.

Katikkiro is a known Arsenal and SC Villa fan.
