Former Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango is happy that Uganda is embracing night football to attract more fans to stadiums.
The Mamelodi Sundown goalkeeper was speaking to the media after gracing Hamz Cup action at the Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo on Thursday night.
He said that night football brings crowds that have been in office to come support respective teams.
“Definitely night football is the best. The intensity is different at night and the vibe is always good at night because you will never know fast the game moves until you get home because you get home around midnight but the joy that people get from the stadium in night football is incredible,” noted Onyango

He hailed businessman Dr. Hamis Kiggundu for starting the crowd pulling tournament, describing it as a good platform for untapped talent.
“I would like to thank Dr. Hamis Kiggundu for allowing Ugandan talent to grow. This is my second time at the stadium. The first time I came here, it was an invite from Mamelodi Sundown to use the stadium and he provided it to us. This is my second time but it amazing to see young talent coming here to play and the supporters are very key to the game of football,” remarked Onyango after watching crowd-pulling Man-U fans Ug whip Buganda Kumbucha 5-2 after Tulibulala comedy group drew 1-1 against Shan Davids FC.
“And for me I think it is incredible that they keep on putting up tournament like this to give young talents an opportunity to youngsters out there to try and use their talents very well,” he added.

Vipers SC, KCCA, SC Villa, Express, NEC and URA FC are the premier league sides that scheduled their games at night last season.
Only St Mary’s stadium-Kitende, Hamz stadium-Nakivubo, MTN Omondi grounds- Lugogo and FUFA Kadiba stadium hosted night games.
