After sealing the ticket to the CAF Confederations Cup with the 2025/26 Stanbic Uganda Cup triumph, Kitara FC are hoping that they can use the newly constructed Hoima City stadium for the continental engagements.

According to the club president Deo Kasozi, the club has engaged the state minister for sports Peter Ogwang and are waiting for the formal response in regard to the use of the 20,000 seater stadium.
Kitara FC won their second Stanbic Uganda Cup title after beating nine-time champions SC Villa 2-1 in this season’s final played at the FUFA technical centre in Njeru.
Villa opened the scoring through Semayange Simon before Diego Miisi Semugera’s own goal levelled matters by half time. Former Masaza Cup most valuable player and top scorer, Jimmy Kalema scored the winner in the 47th minute.
Kitara, who won the title in 2024, will represent the country in the CAF Confederations Cup while Villa endures another trophyless season.

Kitara became the first team to win a competitive match at the newly opened Hoima City Stadium after a commanding 4–0 victory over Buhimba United Saints in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
The Bunyoro derby was effectively settled inside the opening half hour as George Senkaaba struck twice early to set Kitara on their way in front of a capacity crowd witnessing the stadium’s first top-flight fixture.
“What is more important now is that at least the people of Bunyoro region will be able to watch an international game in Hoima city stadium which will be a rehearsal ahead of the Afcon 2027,” noted Kasozi, who has led the side to the two titles in four years.
Kitara hosted games in Libya in their last appearence at the continent due to lack of a certified stadium in Uganda and Kasozi beleives that playing infront of fans will be a huge boost at the continent.
Kitara FC had defeated KCCA FC 1-0 in a high-profile friendly match on December 24, 2025. The game served as the official commissioning and inaugural event for the newly constructed Hoima City Stadium, with the only goal of the match scored by Isaac Amutuhaire.
