Kitende, Kibuli and Mbogo High shine at USSSA Ball Games I

The 2026 Uganda secondary sports association Ball Games one championship climaxed yesterday at Seroma Christian High School, Mukono with the awards-giving to the outstanding players and teams. 

DR. Kedrace Turyagyenda is the Permanent Secretary (PS) for the Ministry of Education and Sports was the guest of honor

Wampeewo Ntakke were crowned Handball U17 girls and boys, Seroma Christian High school and St Michael High school won the girls and boys U17 basketball respectively, Bukedea comprehensive and Standard High, Zzana won the girls and boys U17 volleyball respectively.

In tennis, Kibuli SS were the winners in both girls and boys, in badminton Mbogo High school and Kibuli SS were the girls and boys’ winners respectively. 

Kakungulu memerial SS was dominant in hockey

Kibuli also dominated the girls and boys table tennis while Kakungulu memorial were the girls and boys’ hockey giants.

St Mary’s SS, Kitende won the netball U17 title while Nkoma SS won the U15 title. 

Rugby 15s was won by Jinja SS, St Mary’s SS-Kitende won the girls basketball while Amus College were victors in boys.

Justus Mugisha, the USSSA President noted that: “Beyond medals, we built talent, discipline, teamwork, and national unity. 912 students trained as referees, coaches, and umpires; 1,300 were trained in safeguarding. All athletes were verified through district, zonal, and national screening for integrity. Congratulations to all winners. Champions will represent Uganda at the FEASSA Games in Morogoro, Tanzania, August 2026. Select U17 teams may qualify for ISF global events.”

He said that going forward, USSSA will focus on capacity building, weekend leagues, U-age category games, and further professionalizing school sports to give students the best experiences.
