The Uganda boxing federation believes that starting the novice boxing championship from the regional level was a move in the right direction.
Only the finalists from the four regions, including central, northern, western and eastern joined the other boxers from the ordinary clubs for the national championship that commenced yesterday at TLC in Kamwokya.
Sula Kamoga, the Uganda boxing federation Vice president, says that the number of clubs and boxers from upcountry is impressive.
“We have seen more talents from upcountry and the quality has very much improved,” he said.
Action is set to climax this Saturday with the finals happening before the champions league night at the same venue.
