While celebrating 25 years of academic and sporting excellence in August this year, St Mary’s SS-Kitende Executive Director Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa promised a major facelift of its iconic “Old Trafford” stadium, revealing that renovation and redevelopment works would begin immediately.

The Vipers SC president noted that the project will see the historic school stadium renovated, redesigned and elevated into a modern facility capable of meeting high-level football standards.

“The works will run throughout the remainder of the year, with the ambitious target of having the refurbished stadium ready by December,” he revealed.

Within just two months, the works on the facility are in advanced stages with concrete floor slabs partly done while the stands are also extended.

The development means Kitende will boast two top-class football facilities by the close of the year, both capable of hosting Uganda Premier League matches.

The newly upgraded Old Trafford, however, will primarily serve St. Mary’s Kitende and its school sports programmes, providing the institution with an improved home for its football activities.
