Namuwongo Blazers have formally protested their 78-73 defeat to City Oilers in Game Five of the National Basketball League Finals, challenging the eligibility of six Oilers players.

Germaine Roebuck eligibility contested by Nam Blazers

The Blazers claim City Oilers may have exceeded FUBA’s limit of four foreign players allowed on game day and have asked the federation to investigate Malual Dier, Germaine Roebuck, Patrick Rembert, Isaac Athuai Akoal, Joel Lukoji Banza and Landry Ndikumana.

Namuwongo says the players were registered as non-Ugandan and wants FUBA to verify their citizenship, registration documents, the official scoresheet and player records.

FUBA rules allow a maximum of four foreign players for NBL game days, while a foreign player is defined as someone holding a nationality different from Uganda.

City Oilers one win away from dethroning Namuwongo Blazers

Section 2.01(h) of the FUBA rules provide fines of up to 500 dollars and forfeiture of the affected and subsequent game if the limit is breached. City Oilers currently lead the series 3-2 and need one win to retain the title.
