Ahead of the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Uganda athletics has unveiled a list of 17 athletics team blending proven champions and rising prospects
Uganda Athletics confirmed the squad alongside four officials who will oversee the team during the July 23 to August 1 championship in Glasgow, Scotland.

The selection signals continuity in the country’s middle- and long-distance strength, even as a new generation steps into the spotlight.
Uganda athletics heads into Glasgow aiming to build on a strong showing at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where the country secured four athletics medals on top of one boxing medal.
Peruth Chemutai returns with experience and pedigree, joining Halimah Nakaayi and Joy Cheptoek. Shida Leni, Banura Maureen, Aciru Knight, Rebecca Chelangat and Esther Chebet are the other women forces.
Oscar Chelimo leads the men’s charge alongside Dominic Kiprop, Dan Kibet, and Kenneth Kiprop and Herbert Kibet.
Silas Chemutal, Adoli Haron, Omuka Kenneth and Otim David Berkham are the others.

The team will be under Paul Okello as coach and team manager, alongside Issamat Jimmy and Oding Quinto as assistant coaches.
