The TT Drift & Drag East African Championship 2026 has officially been launched at Banana Beach, setting the stage for three days of speed, smoke and serious motorsport action from 21–23 August.
The launch presided over by Resident District Commissioner Chris Kakwezi saw organisers and police outline plans for the championship, including tight security to ensure fans’ safety.

Fred Sight, the man behind the track at Banana Resort beach is one name that deserves special mention. He is the man who built the track where the championship will take place.
His vision was simple: create a proper home for street racers to compete, drift and have fun in a safe and organised environment.
The facility is a major development for East African motorsport and is the first privately built facility of its kind in East and Central Africa specifically designed for drag racing and drift/spinning events.
For a sport that has often relied on public roads and improvised spaces, this is a big step. Fred did not just build a track. He created a playground for a growing motorsport community.
Ahead of the event, South African drift sensation King Katra landed in Uganda on Friday and quickly became the talk of town.

At Munyonyo, he jumped into a car provided by Skid Culture — a machine he had never driven before – delivering an impressive drift display almost immediately, with skill and confidence that makes him a big name in the drift scene.
The driver and car have to work together in drifting, and Katra seemed to find that connection instantly.
Katra later took the show to Jinja, giving fans a small taste of what awaits this weekend.
Before the championship begins, Skid Culture and Drift Motor Club Uganda will host a meet-and-greet on Wednesday, 19th August, giving fans an opportunity to meet the drivers and see the cars up close.
Katra also sat down with Ugandan sports journalist Favour Patricia Agaba for an exclusive interview on Full Send TV, giving fans a closer look at the man behind the wheel.
