The state minister for sports Hon. Peter Ogwang says that the new term will be measured by quality education and sports for all. Ogwang was speaking to the media after his successful vetting at Parliament following his reappointment as the state minister for sport.

“First of all, I thank the president for reappointing me in the sector. What awaits me is the AFCON 2027. I want to confirm to the country that we are on course as far as that project is concerned. Works in as far as infrastructure developments in this project are concerned are ongoing. Namboole is undergoing the second phase in line with CAF guidance,” he noted.
Ogwang also revealed that the Federation of Uganda football associations (FUFA) had promised to hand over Kadiba grounds by the end of this month while work at Kyambogo and Makerere university training grounds is ongoing. I want to confirm that the contractors – UPDF engineering brigade is ready to take on the mantle.
“With Hoima cluster, the contractor is at the ground to rectify the issues raised by CAF at the Hoima City stadium while the training grounds works have been undertaken by the UPDF engineers brigade. The improvement of attendant roads, hospitals and airport terminal in line with CAF guidance is also ongoing,” added Ogwang.

According to the minister, only Sir Tito Owiny training ground works have been delayed due to the question of land which is being sorted.
Ogwang also said that the country will continue to be represented in different international sports events.
“I want to assure all stakeholders that we are going to start from where we stopped because we want to assure that our children’s talents are nurtured and developed.
The Ngarima County Member of parliament replaced Hamson Obua as the state minister for sports in July 2022 and has been credited for open-door system, accountable and hands-on approach.
