A total of eight teams will receive prize money in the 2026 Hamz Cup football tournament that was launched on Tuesday 26th May, 2026 at the Hamz stadium, Nakivubo.
This is a move from only three teams that received prize money in the second edition last year.

According to Hakim Kasirye, the tournament coordinator, a total of Shs100m has been injected in the competition by businessman Hajji Hamis Kiggundu with the winner having Shs30m while the runners up have Shs20m at stake.
The third and fourth-placed teams will receive UGX 15 million and UGX 10 million respectively while teams finishing between fifth and eighth place will each secure UGX 5 million.
There are other prizes including Shs1m for most valuable player and team with most fans in the stadium, Shs500,000 will go to the best goalkeeper, top scorer, best coach and fairplay winners.
The best two media personalities to cover Hamz will also be rewarded with Shs500,000 each.
The third edition is expected to kick off on June 6th with two opening games at the Hamz Nakivubo stadium.
The tournament was invented by Hamz Group CEO Hajji Hamis Kiggundu to bring together Kampala’s business community, tap raw untapped talent and also attract the business community to supporting local football.
With the massive appeal from the previous edition, the tournament has this year been opened to participation beyond Kampala.
Only players in the third tier and below are allowed to take part with professional players from abroad also ineligible.
Arrows FC are the defending champions after winning last year’s edition.
