Scott McTominay delivered another match-winning performance for Napoli, scoring a first-half brace to secure a 2-0 victory over Torino at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
The result, coming on April 27 with four rounds remaining, lifted Napoli three points clear at the top of Serie A as they chase the Scudetto.
McTominay struck early – putting Napoli ahead in the 7th minute – and doubled the lead before halftime, giving him five goals in his last three games.
His scoring surge has taken his league tally to 11, setting a new record for a Scottish player in Serie A (surpassing Denis Law’s 10 goals for Torino in 1961–62).
“Obviously we’re now leading the race, but for us it’s keep calm and go game by game,” McTominay said, urging focus despite Napoli’s pole position.
The former Manchester United midfielder’s renaissance under coach Antonio Conte has drawn praise from Italian media – with his strength and timing in midfield adding a new dimension to Napoli’s play.
Thanks to McTominay’s brace, Napoli seized control of the title race, while mid-table Torino were left ruing their inability to contain the Scotsman’s incisive runs and clinical finishing.
