The state minister for sports Peter Ogwang held a statement campaign launch at Boma grounds in Katakwi district after being nominated to contest in the National resistance movement (NRM) primaries for the Ngariam Member of Parliament seat, The self-proclaimed certified hustler, also the incumbent was accompanied by fellow MPs led by the Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, national and local government leaders, friends and families.
“I am going to win these primaries with over 90% and that is no debate. You saw the love from my people. We should be preparing for the main election which will also be a ride because with what we have done, people trust me, the NRM and president Museveni to secure their future,” he noted.
The Speaker thanked Ogwang for the work he has done over the years and wished him many more years of good health and dedicated service to his country.
Despite the visible love at the ground, Ogwang faces threats from top government and NRM figures in the Teso region led by a top female figure in the cabinet.
“The people of Ngariam have assured me of their overwhelming support to continue leading them to greater heights. Our efforts will remain geared towards wealth creation, job opportunities for the youths and service delivery,” observed Ogwang.

For the sports fraternity, Ogwang, who replaced Hamson Obua as the state minister for sports in 2022 has virtually been a blessing.
He has overseen a number of significant achievements to the sports sector including among others the new sports law, increment in the sports budget, sports infrastructure growth, improved international performances and accountability.
The well attended campaign launch was colored by top musicians including Eddy Kenzo, Ava Peace among others.
