The State minister for sports Peter Ogwang has again dismissed reports of the stadium failing to meet the CAF standards, crediting the contractors for an excellent job.

“I want to tell Ugandans that this stadium was purposely built to host Afcon 2027 and the contractors did an excellent job that they finished on time. The few issues identified by CAF are being worked on and we shall be ready by August 31st when the last inspection is carried out,” he noted.
Ogwang who hailed president Museveni for supporting the Afcon 2027 project had led the
Cabinet ministers, led by the Vice president Jessica Alupo and Prime minister Robinah Nabbanja to a courtesy visit to the Hoima City stadium as part of the cabinet induction retreat.
The ministers were impressed with the stadium that is earmarked to host the Afcon 2027 games alongside Namboole stadium.

Alupo believes that Hoima stadium is a statement to Uganda’s readiness to host AFCON and more facilities needed will continue being put up.
“We call upon the teams having responsibility to sustain the stadium to the expectation of the people. I want to appreciate the people of Bunyoro region for collaborating with the government so that the results intended in the project are realized,” said Alupo.
The Prime Minister said that the stadium and airport projects have pushed Bunyoro to another level.
“It was the airport project that gave us the Hoima city stadium because CAF wanted an airport to have a direct flight to the stadium. This also came with road construction. As the people of Bunyoro, we are grateful to the government,” she noted.
The ministers also thumbed up the sports minister for spearheading a multi-sports facility approach.
