With just a day to the 2026 presidential and parliamentary general elections due Thursday, 15th, the boxing community has expressed its allegiance to Moses Muhangi.

Muhangi, who is contesting for Kampala central member of parliament, is the president of the Uganda boxing federation.

Boxers have mdae Muhangi’s security throughout the campaign

Since coming to the sport eight years ago, Muhangi has touched so many ghetto boxing talents, empowered coaches and brought the sport to the corporate world.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday in Kamwokya, Muhangi who was flanked by over 100 boxers warned that anyone who tampers with his votes will face off with hungry boxers whose hopes lie in Muhangi’s victory to Parliament.

“There are so many young boxing talents abandoned in the ghetto. The spirit is underfunded and the only way their voice can be heard is by sending their own to parliament. So, this is not only my vote, but the boxers’ hope and any one who thinks that he or she will rig the boxers’ wish, do say I did not warn you. We shall remain peaceful not until anyone tries to tamper with our vote,” noted Muhangi, who vowed to deploy over 100 boxer per parish.

“We have mobilized well through our door-to-door strategy. We knew this would work best for us against our opponents. The minister is aged while Lubongoya is just three years in Kampala. This gives us an advantage,” added Muhangi, who rvealed Kisenyi, Kmwokya and Mengo parishes as hot spots for vote rinning, according to the information he reportedly had.

Muhangi adopted a door-to-door campaign strategy

The boxers have of recent extended their allegiance to the former defunct Uganda professional boxing commission (UPBC) CHAIRMAN Salim Uhuru, who is the national NRM Vice chairman for Kampala and incumbent Kampala central division mayor.

But Uhuru lost the boxers’ loyalty after failing to deliver any development to them despite dining with president Museveni as a top NRM official. Uhuru is the main force behind the minister for Kampala Minsa Kabanda who is the NRM candidate for Kampala central MP seat. Despite being a born of Kisenyi in Kampala, the minister has failed to attract significant popularity in the Kampala ghettos.

Kampala deputy RCC Ali Nsubuga is the other darling in the boxing community. However, the boxers have also defied him, shunning Kabanda camp for Muhangi in the upcoming elections.

“It is not just voting for Muhangi, it is voting for our good days ahead and the boxing community will protect Muhangi’s vote at all cost,” noted Boxing coach Twaibu Mayanja, the head of security in the office of the Uganda boxing federation president.

Moses Muhangi (Independent), Misan Kabanda (National resistance movement), Lewis Lubongoya (National Unity platform) and Abrahm Luzii (independent) are the most popular candidates in the race.
