The Uganda boxing federation has unveiled the title belts ahead of this year’s boxing champions league finals due this Friday on Boxing Day in the Lugogo arena.

According to the federation president, who is also Kampala central Member of Parliament candidate, Moses Muhangi, each weight category winner in the elite division will be decorated with a belt.
Muhangi also noted that boxing has registered relative success this year despite facing financial and administrative challenges.
“These are better-quality titles imported from Pakistan. It is made of pure leather, the engraving is better which makes it worth it for a boxer who has been fighting hard for the entire season. This season has been very competitive, we have seen new faces come in and others go and our job is to make champions out of these youths,” Muhangi told this website.

The finals will be very interesting, very interesting fights on the fight card. It is going to be interesting for the fans and everyone will have a very good experience,” he added.
Traditionally, Boxing Day is a day of opening gift boxes from Xmas but the boxing federation found it wise to have real boxing and having title belts as the gifts to the triumphant boxers.
Muhangi weighed-in on the competition this year, the quality of belts, and sport of boxing performance in general.
“We had a challenging year as the federation especially in compliance with the new sports law, funding has been a consistent challenge, infrastructure is also a persistent challenge and that is the reason why I chose to run for Kampala central MP seat so that I get into parliament to legislate and appropriate for the benefit of our people,” he noted.

Muhangi also expressed pride in the local competitions organized and the international competitions that the national team has participated in.
Over 30 bouts are scheduled for the final this Friday with national team boxers Farahat Manirola and Innocent Amoko facing off in the five rounds main fight.
All the boxers will undergo the mandatory medical checkup and weigh-in this Friday at Lugogo ahead of the bloody night.
