The deputy Speaker of parliament Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa played to second place at the concluded East Africa community parliamentary games golf championship that climaxed this Thursday at Lake Victoria Serena golf resort-Kigo.
Kenya legislators dominated the event with Kanini Kega taking the overall title with 78 points.

Tayebwa, who is also the team Uganda captain, finished one point behind Kanini, tied with Edwin Gichuki and Hon Mugambi, who took the next two positions on countback.
John Chege claimed the gross award with a total of 161.
In the ladies category, Uganda’s Sylvia Nayebale topped the field with 81 points as Woman Member of Parliament for Gomba District lifted the overall title.
Mary Maingi finished second on 67, ahead of Judith Alyek on 64 and Kenya’s Esther Passaris on 54.

The individual skill awards went to Okullo Anthony for nearest to the pin in the men’s category while Esther Passaris was the best among the ladies. Kanini Kenga and Mary Maingi took the longest drive title for the men and ladies, respectively.
Kenya also won the men’s team event with a combined 301 points, powered by strong rounds from Gichuki with 77, Mugambi Mwirithania with 77, Edward Muriu with 74, and John Methu with 73.
Hosting Uganda came second with 260 points, led by Tayebwa on 77 and supported by Okin Ojara, Anthony Okullo, and Gilbert Olanya.
The East Africa legislative assembly (EALA) finished third with 78 points courtesy of Kanini Kega, while South Sudan and Rwanda closed the standings with 54 and 53 points respectively.
Uganda took the ladies team title with 198 points, powered by Nayebale’s 81, Alyek’s 64, and Caroline Kamusiime’s 53. Kenya placed second with 167, ahead of Rwanda on 45.
The games continue on Friday with football at Namboole stadium and netball at Makerere University arena.
