A delegation from the National Council of Sports (NCS) was in Hoima as part of the recent sports infrastructure development drive by the government of Uganda.
Led by Chairman Tashobya, the team inspected a chunk of land spread across 100 acres at Sir Tito Winy College, which the government is looking to purchase from the Bunyoro Kitara Diocese for the construction of a training field attached to the Hoima City Stadium.

This is a prerequisite of continental football governing body CAF in preparations for the 2027 African Nations Cup (AFCON) tournament that Uganda will co-host alongside Kenya and Tanzania.
After the tournament, NCS plans to expand the 100-acre project into a full-blown National Sports Academy, and Chairman Tashobya alongside other Board Members; Moses Anyii Omara, Cecilia Anyakoit, Piloya Evelyn Gloria, Stephen Kiprotich, and a team from the NCS Secretariat were given a guided tour of the land.
Just a few kilometers from Hoima City Stadium along the Hoima-Masindi Highway, this academy will accommodate a football training field attached to Hoima stadium, another six training pitches for the academy itself, outdoor courts for basketball and volleyball, a hostel for visitors, gym, dormitories for resident students, classrooms and an administration block, and eventually a swimming pool.

The delegation also visited the Hoima City Stadium and the Hoima City Indoor Arena with preparations in high gear for the highly anticipated official handover to the government of Uganda, expected this December 2025.
