Kitende in sportlight as Kenya dethrones Uganda in FEASSA Games

Kenya won the overall title of the 2026 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games hosted in Morogoro, Tanzania.

These games concluded on Saturday at the Jamhuri Stadium with Kenya registering 20 gold medals to dethrone Uganda that was counting 19 gold medals during the neck-to-neck race.

Meanwhile, Tanzania were the overall top performers in the Primary Schools and Special Needs cluster.

The official closing ceremony was held at the Jamhuri stadium moments after the epic boys’ football final where St Mary’s Kitende defeated hosts Morogoro Secondary School 2-1. After four years of missing out, granted kitende a record 17th regional title.

Kitende were one of Uganda’s biggest winners, collecting gold in all the disciplined they participated in including boys football, netball and basketball.

FEASSA president Justus Mugisha announced that Rwanda are the next hosts of the 2027 edition.
