The first batch of Team Uganda’s motocross contingent returned home from Windhoek, Namibia in the wee hours of Wedensday morning where Uganda maintained its third-place finish from the previous FIM Africa Championship event.

Uganda’s campaign yielded one gold medal won by Ariela Katende, as the team struggled to match the dominant performances of South Africa and hosts Namibia.

The team’s overall performance has raised concern among some parents, who attributed the results to inadequate preparation ahead of the championship.

Uganda fielded 34 riders at the event.

South Africa dominated the event, finishing top with 814 points, followed by Namibia with 431 points as Uganda came third with 327 points.

Focus will now be shifted to the next FIM Africa championship to be hosted by Angola.
