Following the advice from FUFA, CAF and FIFA, the management of Hamz Nakivubo stadium has moved swiftly to make the experience at the stadium better.
This website has gathered that the management procured and installed new floodlights at the start of the current 2026/27 season.
The fans that watched the preseason FUFA Super 8 tournament witnessed the improvement in lighting during the FUFA super cup after the new lights.
More were added ahead of the Kampaladeerby as Express FC host KCCA on Thursday, 3rd September, 2026.
“There was replacement of faulty lights and installation of added lights to give the fans a better experience,” confirmed Hakim Kasirye, the stadium assistant manager.
Hamz Nakivubo stadium and St Mary’s Stadium-Kitende are the only two venues cleared by FUFA to host night games.
Two venues from last season are off including FUFA stadium -Kadiba which is under redevelopment for Afcon 2027 while MTN Omondi grounds did not meet the required lighting standards.
Hamz Nakivubo is the busiest stadium serving as home to four Uganda premier league clubs this season including Express, UPDF, UPPC and URA FC alongside other tournaments and sporting events.
The stadium that was redeveloped by Dr. Hamis Kuggundu of Ham Group of companies is also home to netball, volleyball, basketball and indoor games with standard gym and accomodation facilities.
