Initially, boxing was allocated three slots for officials which were taken by the federation president Moses Muhangi, Twaibu Mayanja as the head coach and Kabwama Rose as women representative.

Khalil now joins Mayanja as the two coaches to lead the Bombers at the games scheduled for July 23 to August 2.

“Coach Hassan was submitted but because of the limited slots he was not on the team. His coming beefs up the technical team,” noted Muhangi.

Khalil, who also coached KCCA Boxing club, is credited for nurturing many boxers that fared well at the national team including among others former captain Shadir Musa, Murungi Khassim and 2018 Commonwealth Bronze medalist Juma Miiro
