Despite the two fixtures producing only two goals, the huge crowds had the best experience at the international facility.

The crowds were mainly made of students from across different universities in town and the general public after the stadium developer Dr. Hamis Kiggundu granted free access and drinks to the fans.

The fans that this website spoke to hailed the works done to reconstruct the stadium to the international standard whilst many wished that more fixtures are hosted at the facility.

It is the first time that the University league is played at the stadium which is also home to Uganda premier league clubs and the national teams.

Nakivubo has also been confirmed as the host venue for this year’s Buganda Kingdom Airtel-Masaza Cup finals.

In the early kickoff, two-time winners, Kampala University (KU) and reigning champions Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) settled for a goalless stalemate.

In the second game, Kyambogo University returned from suspension with a 2-1 win over ISBAT University under the floodlights.

Komakech Emmanuel slotted home in the 3rd minute. But ISBAT responded swiftly through Akantambira Daniel, just three minutes later.

Kyambogo goalkeeper Mushemeza Edgar was shown a straight red card for handling the ball outside his area in the second half, but his 10-man side held on and snatched the winner in the 82nd minute through Odong Ivan to go top of group C.
