The new 2025/26 StarTimes Uganda premier league kicks off this Friday, 25th September, 2025 with six fixtures on the schedule.

Ahead of the much-anticipated season, FUFA has extended financial support amounting to Shs50m.
According to top sources, FUFA first extended Shs25m to the clubs last month before another Shs25m mid this month.
“FUFA has given clubs another Shs25m and our CEO has confirmed to us. That is a good start for the club- many of which do not have that amount as a start up. This is just one of the benefits that has come with the reforms,” one of the club leaders told this website.

Ahead of the season kick off, the Uganda Premier League (UPL) has announced a shift in night fixture kick-off times; from 7pm to 8pm. This, according to the UPL CEO Bernard Bainaman, is intended to enhance television coverage and ensure smoother matchday operations.
There will also be an increase in the game to be broadcast live with 167 of the 268 fixtures scheduled for broadcast—up from 134 last season.

FUFA also released a list of technical officers including former Uganda Cranes stars; Vincent Kayizzi, Yasser Mugerwa, Steven Bengo, Dan Wagaluka, Lawrence Kizito, Baker Lukooya, Tonny Odur, among others.
The technical officers will contribute to match-day reporting and form part of the Match Technical panel responsible for selecting the Man of the Match in every league fixture.
Under the new league reforms, FUFA has set aside cash prizes for the man of the match from respective games.
