COVERED: NSSF injects Shs120m in the 2025 KAVC tournament

The 27th NSSF Kampala amateur volleyball club (KAVC) International Volleyball Tournament has been launched.

This year’s edition is scheduled for September 12–14 at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium & National Hockey Grounds under the theme

“Championing Better Community Health and Behavior Through Sports.”

The message underscores the importance of physical health and social behavior, encouraging individuals especially the youth to adopt healthier lifestyles through active participation in sports, particularly volleyball.

The tournament will feature teams from Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan, Kenya, and Ghana.

The National social security fund (NSSF) has announced a sponsorship package of UGX 120 million as platinum sponsors to facilitate smooth operations of the tournament, including logistics, team welfare, and prize money.

“A better future can be achieved by taking care of vital aspects of life such as our health and behavior. These values can be nurtured and strengthened through participation in sporting activities,” noted Teddy Barbra Arimi, the NSSF Head of marketing and Corporate Affairs.

Rwanda sides Energy Group and Rwanda National Police emerged the men and women Champions respectively during last year’s edition.

This year’s edition will also feature a corporate category and teams from Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda have already confirmed participation.
