Following her historic triumph at the inaugural world boxing African championship Vannessah Nagawa was named the Boxing best of last month (October) at the Real Stars monthly awards held on Tuesday in Lugogo, Kampala.

The Katabi boxing club boxer and Entebbe Parents SS student became Uganda’s first female boxer to win a continental gold medal last month after the referee stopped contest (RSC) against Lesotho’s Rapelang Maselela.

“I am so happy to have been chosen as the best boxer of the month. I thank the organisers, the Uganda boxing federation, my club- Entebbe boxing club and the fans. This motivates me to work hard to represent my country at bigger stories,” she noted.

Elsewhere, Kyaggwe head coach Ronald Ssali and County Chief, Ssekiboobo Vincent Matovu, received Lifetime Achievement Awards, while the team’s trophy-winning striker, George Kato, was named the Football Real Star for October.

Kyaggwe secured their maiden Masaza Cup title after defeating Gomba 1-0 in the final played on October 31, 2026.

Joseph Ssebantindira claimed the Table Tennis Real Star award for October.
