Kenya Pipeline Volleyball Club kicked off their title defense in dominant fashion at the CAVB Zone V Club Championship in Kampala.
Team captain Trizah Atuka credits Pipeline’s “strong start” as key motivation as they seek to retain the women’s crown. The Kenyan champions went unbeaten in Group A, posting victories against Tanzania’s Prisons and Ugandan sides Ndejje Elites and KCB Nkumba to finish top of their pool.
Atuka, a veteran middle blocker, noted that with 8 women’s teams and 11 men’s teams in the regional tournament, Pipeline are using the competition as vital preparation for the African Club Championships – and that no opponent can be underestimated despite Pipeline’s early dominance.
“We are ready to defend the title… The competition is good and we cannot underrate any team,” Atuka remarked, emphasizing that Zone V serves as both a championship and a stepping stone to continental glory.
Last year, Pipeline and Kenya Police (men) brought home the trophies for Kenya.
With Pipeline already through to the knockout stages this year, they have firmly set the pace, looking every bit the team to beat as the tournament enters its decisive phase.
