Uganda will yet again have participation in weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games that get underway this month in Glasgow, Scotland.

Davis Niyoyita has for the past few months been undergoing intensive training in Kisugu in readiness for the upcoming Games and expects nothing but success on his second appearance at the games.
Currently ranked African number two in the men under 55 category, Niyoyita will open his hunt for a medal with a lift in the Snatch 100kg before proceeding to the clean and jerk 130kg event with sights on achieving the maximum 230kg mark.
“From the look of things and the kind of training I have undergone, I expect nothing but success on mysecond appearance at the Games,” he noted.
Niyoyita says that he has improved a lot since the last Commonwealth Games -winning Silver at the 13th African Games along the way.
He has also taken part in the Islamic Solidarity Games and participated in several world championships in Norway, Saudi Arabia and Colombia that have instilled confidence in him.

Uganda will send 55 athletes from eight disciplines to Glasgow.
