The road to the FIBA World Cup continues this Thursday night as Uganda’s men’s national basketball team, the Silverbacks, take on Angola in a crucial qualifier.

Mandy Juruni’s side looks to bounce back after a difficult start to their campaign.
“We have faced this side before and we know how it plays. At the end of the day, you have to respect your opponents but we must be confident. At times it is good to compete agaist teams of that calibre and such players. With the belnd of players, the new additions from the first window, I know we are good to go,” noted head coach, Mandy Juruni.
Uganda currently sits bottom of Group D after defeats to Mali, Angola, and Egypt in the first qualifying window held in February and March 2026.
The squad in Angola features a blend of experienced players and emerging talent aiming to turn their fortunes around.
The Silverbacks held a training camp in Rwanda, where they won one of two warm-up games against the Rwanda national team.
