The Uganda U-17 Women’s National Team (Teen Cranes) head coach Sheryl Ulanda Botes on Monday named a 31-player provisional squad for the upcoming 2026 CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship, scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from 13th to 23rd June 2026.

Uganda is placed in Group B alongside South Sudan, Zanzibar, and Djibouti with the matches to be played at the Azam Complex Stadium in Chamazi and KMC Stadium.
The squad is composed of players from the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League, FUFA Women Elite League, and secondary school football system.
The team commenced residential training on Monday at the FUFA Hotel, Kisaasi.
The Teen Cranes were eliminated from the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers after falling to Kenya over the weekend.
The two legs at the second qualifying round ended in draws but Kenya progressed with the away goals rule after the return leg ended goalless.

The first leg had ended in a one-all draw, leaving Coach Sheryl Botes Ulanda in a torrid period with no substantial progress made with women since she took over two years ago.
Last month, the U20 Women’s National Team got eliminated from the World Cup qualifiers by Ghana while the Crested Cranes have also not performed well under her reign.
With about four months to the end of her current contract, the South African’s future remains uncertain.
