TikTok influencers fire-up Hamz Cup tournament

The third edition of the Hamz Cup received major boost of excitement after popular TikTok influencers, led by comedian Michael Ssebamba — commonly known as Mikey Seems Too Funny confirmed their participation.

Mikey declared that his side has good players capable of winning the title. He warned that despite most being comedians, they are serious about winning the Hamz Cup prize money.

“they will think that we have come to do comedy yet we want the money and we are good enough to take it – just wait,” he noted.

Fellow squad member Nishata Aksam expressed confidence, saying that the team has been training intensively and is in peak condition ahead of tournament kickoff.

The Hamz Cup, organized by city businessman Hamis Kiggundu, boasts a prize pool of 100 million Uganda shillings. The winners will pocket 30 million UGX, runners-up 20 million, while third and fourth place earn 15 million and 10 million respectively.

A total of 32 teams confirmed participation ahead of the June 6 kickoff at the Hamz Stadium Nakivubo.

The teamswere drawn in eight groups, from Group A to Group H with the top eight teams from last season seeded to lead the groups.
