Kayongo (L) and Lubega display one ofthe draws

The 2025/26 Stanbic Uganda Cup draws were held on Thursday at the Kansai Plascon offices in Industrial area-Kampala.

The draws were conducted by Santos Gumte, the Kansai Plascon Uganda managing director, Moses Al sayed Lubega – the Uganda sports press association (USPA) president and Plascon’s head of marketing Daniel Kayongo.

The surprise package this season – Happy Boys Kagaba FC were drawn against nine-time winners SC villa. The Mityana-based 4th tier side is the only lower division side at this level of the competition and head coach Simon Ggita is confident they can continue with the fairytale.

“Our fans have supported us and the boys have given their all, we still believe we can push harder in the tournament,” he noted.

In the other fixtures, joint 10-time record champions KCCA FC travel to Hamz Nakivubo stadium to face three-time winners URA FC, 2024 champions Kitara FC host the other ten-time winners Express FC while 2024 runners up NEC fc welcome defending champions Vipers SC at Lugogo.

“As Plascon, we are proud to see not only football, but the growth of sports in the country. It shows you that sports has a grand impact not only on the brand visibility and equity of the country but also promoting talent, creating employment and entertaining Ugandans,” noted Kayongo.

Hajjat Aisha Nalule, the FUFA Competitions director explained that the teams will play 90 minutes and have an extra 30 minutes in case of a stalemate before post-match kicks if no winner is found.

“The matches will be played next month between April 1st and 6th,” she noted.

Plascon are the co-sponsors of the tournament alongside Stanbic bank Uganda where the winner not only has Shs50m cash prize at stake, but also a ticket to the CAF Confederations Cup.
