The Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga has congratulated Hajji Omar Mandela upon his re-election as SC Villa president. Mandela secured another five-year term on Tuesday as the SC Villa president unopposed after other aspirants Farouk Meywa, Ben Misagga, Bulezi Kawuma and Denis Mbidde failed to pay the Shs100m non-refundable nomination fees.
Katikkiro, a renowned SC Villa fan, said that Mandela has worked for SC Villa, football and Ugandan sports in general.
“In a general perspective, he is a hardworking man with a lot we can learn from him, especially in his industrious ways and his interpersonal relationships. Some people are not aware that he (Mandela) served the king. We congratulate him,” Katikkiro noted via his official handle.
Meanwhile, former SC Villa presidential aspirant Farouk Meywa is dragging SC Villa leadership and the newly elected president Omar Mandela to court over what he called an irregular electoral process.
This was revealed in a joint press conference addressed by Meywa and Ben Misagga on Wednesday.
