FUBA name Goran new Silverbacks head coach

The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) has confirmed the appointment of Goran Lojo as the Uganda National Men’s Basketball Team head coach.

Lojo joins the – Silverbacks program with an international coaching experience spanning elite club basketball, national teams, and youth development systems across Europe.

“His appointment marks a significant step in FUBA’s strategic commitment to strengthening the competitiveness and global profile of Ugandan basketball,” partly led the FUBA statement.

 A highly respected basketball professional from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lojo previously served as Head Coach of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Women’s National Team, where he led the program to the most successful period in its history. Under his leadership, the team achieved a fifth-place finish at the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket and qualified for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup for the first time. He also served a short stint with the Uganda National Women’s team – Gazelles.

At club level, Lojo has coached in Germany’s top professional women’s league the Damen Basketball Bundesliga (DBBL) where he guided teams to historic playoffs appearances and captured a national championship title with Rutronik Stars Keltern. His career reflects a consistent ability to elevate team performance through structured systems, player development and competitive discipline.

In addition to his senior national team experience, Lojo has worked extensively in elite youth development and international basketball programs and is reinforcing his currently the head of youth department at BG Gottingen and also serves as the head coach of U19 Men’s Bundesliga team BG Gottingen.

His reputation as a coach capable of building both immediate results and sustainable long-term success. Further details regarding his official introduction, technical staff and program objectives will be communicated in due course.
