She Corporate Football Club’s Jessica Namanda and Belyse Ininahazwe have been named the player and coach of the month of December respectively at the Finance Trust Bank FUFA women super league monthly awards.
Namanda scored four vital goals and earned one Woman of the Match accolade for the second placed side.
Namanda beat Catherine Nagadya and Angel Auki Kigongo to the award.
“I am very grateful for the award because it is never easy. I thank FUFA and Finance Trust bank for motivating us with these awards which kept us pushing beyond our limits. Thank you for this motivation,” noted Nagadya.
Belyse meanwhile was recognized for steering She Corporate to three consecutive victories during the period.
Ininahazwe beat Uganda Martyrs head coach Edward Kasozi Ssozi and Makerere University tactician Fred Ndawula to the coaching accolade.
Both the Best Coach and Best Player received trophies and a cash prize of UGX 500,000 each.
Francis Wasswa, the head of strategy at Finance Trust bank says that they are promoting the women agenda and women football is part of that move.
“The woman is always put forward as our champion- we want to champion the women and empower them,” he noted.
In the media category, Aminah Namutebi of FUFA Services and Solomon Ssaka of NBS Sport were named Best Journalists of the Month with each receiving a cash prize of UGX 250,000.
Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC remain top of the league table with 28 points, two ahead of She Corporate.
