Ten-man St. Lawrence University (SLAU) put up a satisfying performance to see off Makerere University Business School (MUBS) 3–1 in a thrilling Pepsi University Football League encounter played on Thursday evening at the Hamz Nakivubo stadium. Despite going a man down in the second half, the three-time losing finalists collected maximum points to go top of Group D.

Captain Ziraba Ronnie opened the scoring, but the visitors hit back on the half-hour mark courtesy of skipper Brian Katete’s moment of individual brilliance, beating three defenders to score the best goal of the day.
Kembo Osman Arafat restored SLAU’s lead with a simple header after the break before Munanira Derrick was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge, reducing them to ten men.
However, substitute Mugerwa Lawrence converted a 79th-minute penalty to seal an outstanding 3–1 victory for the hosts.

Action continues this Friday, as defending champions Nkumba University face ISBAT University — both sides seeking redemption after opening-day defeats.
