Bugiri Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Asuman Basalirwa has called for immediate reconciliation between Vipers SC president Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa and FUFA president Eng. Moses Magogo to end the ongoing impasse arising from the unpopular new Uganda premier league playing format introduced by the federation.

Speaking to NBS Sport, Basalirwa equated the league without Vipers SC like having the Inter-Party Organisation for Dialogue (IPOD) without having the biggest opposition party -the National Unity platform.

“The absence of Vipers in the league definitely creates a very big gap. And it will one or the other lessen the competition, so we should do whatever it takes to ensure that vipers in back in the league

The Bugiri municipality Member of parliament urged the two football leaders Moses Magogo and Lawrence Mulindwa to put personal differences aside, if any, and seek dialogue in the spirit of unity and progress.

“I FUFA is making reforms and renovations in the format of the league and some of the players in the football sector are uncomfortable, the solution is dialogue. They should be able to seat and harmonize positions,” added Basalirwa, who heads the Parliamentary sports club.

Basalirwa however is proud that the new sports, initiated by Magogo is now in position to address such differences under the arbitration clause.

“If you look at the sports law, it has provision for arbitration, if there are differences among the federations, with the regulatory body, payers or clubs, the sports Act has made provision for arbitration. Conflict-dispute resolution, aggrieved parties should not formally be evoking the provisions of arbitration under the sports law to overcome the current impasse,” he guided.

Vipers snubbed their scheduled opening fixture against Kitara after formally writing to FUFA seeking explanations on their reservations about the new playing format.

The Uganda premier league meanwhile asserted that the league will continue as scheduled with the next action set for this Wednesday as SC villa host Entebbe UPPC at the FUFA Kadiba grounds.
