Uganda professional Golfers association (UPGA) in partnership with MTN Uganda on Friday launched a Pro Tee that is set to be a part of the monthly MTN tee held at the par 71 at the Entebbe club.
The MTN Uganda sponsored tournament that has always been a members’ golfing event for the past 3years will now feature professionals starting on the June 16th -19th with 72 rounds of play marking the second Quarter of 2026 mtn tee.
Justina Icabala, the MTN Uganda Enterprise segment manager, said that involving professionals enables the MTN Tee to involve every category of golfers.
She noted that this is also one way that mtn can give back to the profs who have been having limited tournaments.
“We are introducing the ‘free your fire’ campaign in golf with the term “Free your swing. We are having the pros start and play during the week, and the amateurs with the rest of us on Saturday,” she noted.
The prize kitty of the first leg will be UGX15m and the professionals commended MTN for supporting before promising entertaining action.
The tournament will be played in June, September and December, according to the organisers.
The MTN Pro-Tee Series provides a competitive platform for Uganda’s top professional golfers while strengthening the development of the sport in the country, reaffirming MTN Uganda commitment to supporting golf and recognizing the elite group of players who continue to elevate the game.
