The 2026 Absa Chairman’s Bell Golf Tournament got off to a thrilling start on Monday at the Uganda Golf Club in Kitante, with the newly introduced Caddies Tournament taking centre stage.
A total of 71 caddies teed off in this new addition to the week-long event, which has been expanded into a four-in-one spectacle now featuring Caddies, Gross Amateurs, Professionals, and the Main Event.
The Caddies Tournament is a new introduction aimed at recognising the vital role caddies play in the sport while providing them with a platform to develop their skills and gain competitive exposure.
With a prize kitty of SHS2M dedicated to the caddies’ category, the competition was fierce as participants showcased their talent on the par-72 course.
Akorabirungi Ronald, UGC Caddie Master expressed his excitement about the new category while Uganda golf club Chairman Paul Nuwagaba hailed the tournament’s impact now in its 8th year with Absa sponsorship.
Action continues this Tuesday as over 250 participants in the Gross Amateurs and Professionals begin their campaigns and build momentum toward Saturday’s highly anticipated Main Event.
