The 2026 Hamz cup returned on Tuesday with two fixtures at the Hamz stadium, Nakivubo.

More competition is expected at the Round of 16

The opening game created a story of its own with one Brian Tumusiime scoring all the six goals as his Mutaasa Kafeero beat Kkona United 6-0.

Tumusiime scored four times in the opening half before adding two in the second half as his side became the biggest scoring side in the tournament whilst his goal tally moving to eleven as he chases the top scorers’ prize.

By the end of group stage, Tumusiime was batling for the golden boot and prize money with Kenneth Mukwaya (7) of Park View FC, Eric Kibirige (5) of Arsenal Ug fans FC and Bright Adda (4) of Akright City.

However, Park View and Akright City have alredy bowed out of the tournament.

In the other fixture, Shan David’s FC secured a place in the Round of 16 after a convincing 4-0 victory over Buganda Kombucha.

The two matches put the curtains for the group stage down as the 16 teams at the next stage were confirmed. Only the top two teams from each group qualified to the round of 16.

The knockout draws are to be held this Thursday morning at the Hamz Nakivubo stadium. The tournament organized and sponsored by Hajji Hamis Kiggundu – the Hamz group of Companies CEO, is seen as a great platform for untapped talents to showcase their potential.

The winner has Shs50m cash prize off the Shs150m total prize money while all the quarter finalists have prize money at stake.
