Women football stakeholders have welcomed FUFA’s move to change the FUFA women super league kick off time from morning to evening. The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) confirmed a change in the kick-off time for matches effective from the 2026/27 season.

The kick off time change announcement was made during the FUFA Women Leagues Pre-season Workshop held on Wednesday at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.
The workshop brought together chief executive officers from the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League and the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Elite League to review the previous season and discuss preparations for the upcoming campaign.
The decision to have morning kick-offs drew criticism from women’s football stakeholders with She Corporate fc’s chairman Richard Kawere being at the forefront of opposition.
“We expressed dissatisfaction that playing in the morning would chase away fans and I think over time, we have been vindicated. That time is when the would-be fans are engaged in productive work and can’t come to stadiums,” noted Kawere.

Kawere says that reverting to 4pm kick off time is a welcome idea.
“We agreed that only live TV games would go on at 10am but after agreement in the meeting with FUFA as stakeholders, we just received a directive saying that all the games would be played in the morning. This was a wrong move and I thank FUFA for realising the mistake and change,” added Kawere.

Kawere urged stakeholders to come together and push for women football support.
“We now have a task to bring back the fans that had left and we need to work hard as stakeholders,”
She Corporate fell short last season after being held on the last day with just a win away to the title that was eventually won by Kawempe Muslim.
Kawere says that missing out on the title on the last day was painful but they will come back stronger.
“We have talked to the girls and moved on. We are going to beef up and come back stronger next season to compete for the title,” Kawere revealed.

The 2026/27 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League season is scheduled to kick off on September 12, 2026
