Kitara fc have commenced their preseason training ahead of a demanding 2026/27 season. The Royals held their first preseason training on Tuesday at John Bosco seminary playground in Bujumbura.

Kitara won the Stanbic Uganda cup title last season and will represent the country in the CAF Confederations Cup.

The Hoima-based side is yet to announce new signings but experienced Nicolas Kasozi is joining to boost the midfield field while Emanuel Wasswa also agreed to a new contract extension.

According to sources, the club is also looking for a goalkeeper to give competition to Medi Kibirige who had suspect outings last season despite keeping 12 league clean sheets while defensive midfielder Yunus Sibira was unveiled by KCCA FC on Wednesday.

Kitara finished 4th on the Uganda premier league table last season with 56 points from 30 games, 11 points shy of champions Vipers SC.

The Wasswa Bbosa side scored 43 and conceded 22, won 16 and lost 6 games.

Patrick Henry Kaddu was the top scorer with ten goals, defender Namwaasa Edward was the most provider with four assists while captain Jasper Aheebwa played the most minutes (2520) in his 28 games he featured in, according to Uganda premier league official statistics.

Kitara is expected to host the local games from the Royals Park while the continental games will be hosted in the new Hoima City stadium granted to the club by the government.

The CAF journey begins in early September with the preliminary rounds.

The first legs of the first preliminary round are scheduled for 4–6 September 2026, with the return legs following a week later on 11–13 September.

Success sees the Royals advance to the second preliminary round, where the first leg is set for 16–18 October and the decisive return leg on 23–25 October 2026.
