Kawempe Muslim Ladies goalkeeper Juliet Adeke is the most decorated player in the history of Uganda women’s top-flight football, having won six league titles with Kawempe Muslim.
The 28-year-old who has spent nearly 11 years with the club celebrated her sixth league medal after guiding her side to the 2025/26 season glory.
At the establishment of the inaugural FUFA women league in 2015, Juliet Adeke was one of the pioneer players in Kawempe Muslim as the team went on to win four consecutive titles.
Adeke served as an understudy to then first choice and national team star Ruth Aturo.
After Aturo’s departure, Adeke stepped into the starting role.
The 2017/18 season was her first as Kawempe Muslim’s first-choice goalkeeper, and she helped the club win the league title while she also earned the Best Goalkeeper Award of the season.
When the competition was rebranded from the FUFA Women Elite League to the FUFA Women Super League, Adeke remained a key figure for Kawempe Muslim, helping the club win the 2022/23 league title and once again claiming league’s best goalkeeper award.
The Mbale born Adeke has spent the last four seasons mostly on the bench. She is currently the club’s third-choice goalkeeper behind Saidat Namwanje and Josephine Nambuya.
Adeke says that discipline, patience and determination are the key factors behind her success and ability to win a record six league titles.
Kawempe Muslim women football club head coach Ayub Khalifah Kiyingi has worked with Adeke since 2015.
He attributes her success to commitment and professionalism while teammate Saidat Namwanje prides in the guidance the experienced goalkeeper extends to her.
Assistant captain Sharifah Nakimera described Adeke as a mother figure within the team.
According to Ayub, the club has started preparing Adeke for a future coaching role, albeit the 28-year old preferring a more playing role.
Kawempe Muslim Ladies remain the most successful club in Uganda women’s football, having won six league titles, with Adeke playing a part in all of them.
