Kasim Murungi marked his return to the Uganda national boxing team, the Bombers, with victory at the inaugural World Boxing Africa championship held in Kenya.
The East Coast boxing club boxer last featured for the Bombers two years ago at the 13th African Games in Ghana where he scooped Bronze in the Featherweight category.

His performances locally, especially in the Uganda boxing champions league where he has stopped opponents was a clear writing that he benefits to be part of the team to Nairobi.
Murungi won gold after defeating Angola’s Daniel Makaya in the final.
“I am happy that I have finally secured a gold medal at the African stage. It is my first gold at the continental level because my first at the African championship, I stopped at the quarterfinals,” noted Murungi.
“We were in camp for a short time but we were determined. Good enough we always train for the champions league which keeps us ready,” he added.
Murungi attributed his success to the coaches tactics and guidance as well as the champions league which keeps them active throughout the year.
