Uganda’s business community has been encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities that will come with hosting Afcon 2027.

Briefing the media on the preparations progress at the Uganda media centre in Kampala on Wedensday, Dr. Dennis Mugimba, the local Organizing committee Chairman for Communications and Signage, revealed that 850 potential suppliers have registered for the pre-qualification process, while 650 service providers have already been selected.

The stadium and training facility works are progressing well ahead of the December completion deadline and CAF has already inspected the stadiums and training grounds earmarked to host matches. The inspected facilities include Akii-Bua Olympic Stadium, Mandela national stadium and Hoima City stadium.

UPDF Engineering brigade, the contractors, are expected to complete the major stadium and training ground works by the end of this year.

Akii-Bua Stadium’s construction is now estimated at 80 percent, while restructurings at Hoima Stadium, which CAF requested to meet VIP hosting standards, have reached 95 percent.
