Security in Bunyoro has been beefed up to ensure safety in the region due to the upcoming Afcon 2027 and for the safety of facilities attached to the continental showpiece.

This is in reference to the number of installations in the region like Hoima city stadium training facilities, oil and gas activities, Hoima international airport and oil refineries.
Security maintains that wrong elements target such places to cause insecurity especially to the foreign nationals and destruction of such important infrastructure.
Uganda will co-host Afcon 2027 alongside Kenya and Tanzania with Hoima stadium earmarked to host the games alongside Namboole stadium.
Construction of Booma grounds in Hoima and Masindi stadium that will be used as training facilities is also progressing well, in addition to the improved health, road, water and electricity infrastructure.

Julius Hakiza, the Police spokesperson in the Albertine region says that they are on top of the game to ensure that the region is safe, aware of the influx of people due to business boom and employment.
Badru Mugabi, the Hoima city resident commissioner (RCC), says that they have intensified Police patrols, with now the entire unit deployed at Hoima city stadium composed of various security agencies.
