Isingiro boosted their hopes of reaching the Ankole Cup quarter-finals with an impressive 3-1 victory over Mbarara City in a highly anticipated Group Stage match played at Biharwe Playground in Mbarara.

The win leaves Isingiro in need of another positive result in their final group match against Rwampara to secure qualification to the knockout stage. Kiruhura beat Kazo 1-0 to qualify to the quarterfinals and so was Rubirizi that saw off Buhweju 1-0.

Action will return this weekend with five fixtures. Kazo host Ibanda, Buhweju take on Mitooma, Kashari face Mbarara City, Isingiro take Rwampara while Sheema battle Bushenyi in the only Saturday game.

Kiruhura and Rubirizi have already qualified to the quarter finals and can only lose number one spots if Ibanda defeats Kazo by two goals or if Mitooma defeats Buhweju.

Kazo and Buhweju can no longer finish top of the group. If they both win, then Kazo will play against Rubirizi and Buhweju will then take on Kiruhura.

A win for Mitooma will lift them to the top of the table to face Ibanda or Kazo. A draw is enough for Mitooma to qualify and that would put them in a tie against Kiruhura if Ibanda doesn’t win by 2-0. If Ibanda draws against Kazo, they will face Rubirizi provided Mitooma doesn’t win against Buhweju

The Ankole Cup quarter-finals are scheduled to kick off on 17th July 2026.
