The Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) held its maiden National Pool League Awards Ceremony at the Katikati restaurant in Lugogo on Saturday, 26th July, 2025. The moderate event came with medals, certificates, and prize money to celebrate regional pool associations, top-performing clubs, and individuals.
“It is the first time in history that we are having prize money and we are scaling to Shs130m in prize money. This has never happened in the history of Ugandan pool,” noted Bob Trubish, the PAU Chairman. “It is also historic that we have had live broadcast of our leagues by NBS Sport as our partners,” he added.

Rox Berry were the senior men pool winners while Mukono pool club, who snubbed the awards over discontent with the female MVP award, defended the women title.
The national pool leagues are sponsored by Nile breweries under their flagship brand of Nile Special.
“It is really good to see what has been happening especially around pool and as Nile Breweries, we are very much excited,” noted Yasintah Mgallah, the Nile Breweries limited trade marketing manager.
Marion Kisakye and Ibra Sejjemba were named the female and male most valuable players, respectively due to highest score weights. Ssejjemba was also the men’s league top scorer while Rashida Mutesi was the women’s top scorer.

With Mutesi’s outstanding individual performance that delivered her side the trophy, Mukono pool club felt that their player had been denied the MVP gong. This is the reason they snubbed the awards in solidarity with their star.
According to stats, Mutesiwon 10 and drew one game while Kisakye won 9 and lost three. Mutesi won 41 frames and lost only three to deliver the title to Mukono pool club unbeaten while Kisakye won 37 and lost 11 frames. Mutesi registered three apple wins against Kisakye’s two while Mutesi beat Kisakye at both meetings.
